Thank you to all who joined us for another year of the Wintertide Festival of Lights. What a wonderfully wintery PNW night with crisp skies and the glimmer of the moon and stars serving as the backdrop to a magical night of lights and festivities. We were thrilled to bring a few new additions to the event with Chaotic Noise Marching band guiding us into the meadow, the black light paint room, and several fabulous new one night only installations with support from the artistry of Foxlight Labs, Marcell Marias, and Ross Brown. We are so grateful that Fractal Phase Fire Performance Troupe joined us for another year and we loved sharing in the now annual tradition of the lantern walk. What a joy to make use of our new accessible trail and to see the ribbon of lantern lights and glowing solstice crowns guiding use through the trails. We were also grateful for Sarah Shea and friends who kept the courtyard overflowing with holiday jazz and for the all of holiday shoppers who supported the 32 artists selling at our 2024 Maker’s Market.
Of course this event would not exist without the creative designs of our artists who bring us the annual light art experience. This year’s featured artists are: Tracy Beals, Dustin Fosnot, Loreen Matsushima, Andy and Maya Rovelstad, Heather Dawn Sparks, Marcell Marias, Kim Wennerberg, Jennifer Kapok, and KCJ Szwedzinski.
Our goal with the Wintertide Festival and Maker’s Market is to create an inspiring event that sparks light and joy at the darkest time of year and raises much needed funds to support local artists as well as the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center’s effort to offer free year round programming. Again, thank you for purchasing a ticket and for shopping in support of the arts!
An additional thanks goes to our sponsors who help us offset the costs for producing these annual festivities. This year’s premier sponsors are DA Davidson and Astound Broadband. Additional sponsors include Sound Community Bank, Country Aire Market, Alderwood Bistro, Olympic Peninsula Visitors Bureau, Olympic Lodge by Ayres, KONP radio, Clallam County Lodging Tax, and Port Angeles Lodging Tax.
If you missed the Festival there is still time to take in the lights. The Light Art Experience is available every night from 4-8pm until January 1st.
We hope you enjoy the wonderful photos from the event by Dan Sullivan.
