At the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center, that seasonal transition becomes an invitation to slow down, look closer, and experience art in new and meaningful ways. From an exhibition inspired by living systems and the natural world to woodland gatherings, hands-on workshops, and a community fall festival, the coming months offer plenty of reasons to make the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center part of your upcoming seasonal plans.
Start with Nature at Kinship: A Collaboration with Nature
Summer isn’t quite over yet, and there is still time to experience Kinship: A Collaboration with Nature, on view through September 13, 2026, at the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center. The exhibition is open Thursdays through Sundays from 11AM to 5PM, with free or by-donation admission.
Kinship brings together contemporary artists whose work engages with living materials, ecological processes, and forms inspired by the natural world. Rather than presenting art as something completely fixed and permanent, the exhibition considers what happens when growth, decay, weather, moisture, gravity, and care become part of the creative process.
Welcome Mid-Century Style at The Mod Lounge
On Saturday, September 19, the gallery takes a glamorous turn with The Mod Lounge: A Mid-Century Soirée & Woodland Experience. Doors open at 6PM for this ticketed evening, transforming the Fine Arts Center and surrounding grounds into a 1950s-inspired indoor and outdoor lounge. Expect a night where retro-chic style meets the moody atmosphere of the woods, with craft cocktails, botanical forest spritzes, catered bites, a silent auction, live jazz and bossa nova, and a vinyl DJ lounge later in the evening. There will also be opportunities to get creative yourself, including mod art stations inspired by the bold patterns and playful spirit of the Mid-Century era.
The event celebrates the legacy of Esther Webster and the transformative power of community-supported art while raising support for the future of the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center.
Turn the Page with Paper & Paste
Just a week later, on Friday, September 25, the Fine Arts Center opens its newest exhibition, Paper & Paste, with a free opening reception from 5PM to 7PM. The exhibition runs September 25 through November 8 and explores transformation through one of the most familiar materials imaginable: paper. Artists fold, cut, layer, and glue ordinary sheets into sculptural forms, intricate structures, and delicate spaces of light. The result is a reminder that transformation doesn’t always require something dramatic. Sometimes a simple change in perspective is enough to create an entirely new world.

Let Fall Take Over at the Fall Shadows Festival
By October, autumn is fully underway, and Webster’s Woods becomes the setting for one of the season’s most anticipated community celebrations.
The Fall Shadows Festival takes place Saturday, October 17, from 5PM to 8:30PM. Admission is free with a suggested donation, making it an accessible evening for the whole community. The festival embraces everything magical about fall. Webster’s Woods will be lined with glowing, hand-carved pumpkins entered in the community Pumpkin Carving Contest, with categories designed for different ages and abilities. Beyond the pumpkin-lined trails, visitors can enjoy local food vendors, a beer garden, theater performances, and free art and activity stations for all ages. As daylight fades, the woods become a canvas for light, shadows, creativity, and community.
And if you’re looking for an excuse to get creative before the festival, you can carve your own pumpkin and add it to the celebration.
Make Something of Your Own with Oneiroframes
The fall creative season continues on Saturday, October 24, with An Introduction to Oneiroframes: Paper Cut Light Box Workshop, from 1PM to 4PM. The hands-on workshop, led by Seattle paper artist Brittany Otto, introduces participants to the techniques behind creating three-dimensional, layered paper artwork with natural backlighting. Participants will learn how to design, cut, and assemble their own piece using paper, a blade, and layers of carefully constructed shapes. A template will be available, but participants are also encouraged to bring an idea of their own. Materials and tools are provided, so all you need to bring is curiosity and creativity.
It’s also a perfect companion to Paper & Paste. After seeing what artists can do with paper in the gallery, you can step into the creative headspace and experiment with the material yourself.
A Season of Transformation
