Summertide Recap

June 29, 2024 by Rachel Storck Filed Under: Festivals, Latest News, Webster's Woods

Did you catch the Summertide Solstice Art Festival?!

We had a fantastic time with you all a few weekends ago at our annual kick-off to the summer. Despite a rainy day all around us, the rain held off over Webster’s Woods for most of the day, letting us carry on with festival activities. We applaud all of YOU who came out even when the weather looked less than ideal. Once again, you’ve shown us that no rain is gonna stop our crowd from showing up!

We hope you’ll join us in reminiscing on a beautiful day filled with art and bubbles and music and all good things.

The day began with a live poetry reading in celebration of 18 new poems that were added to Webster’s Woods for Poetry in the Park. A huge thank you to the Olympic Peninsula Authors for spearheading this project so that we can continue to offer this literary component to visitors of the park. The gallery was also open for a look at the exhibition of student artwork, Blooming Artists.

We saw some creative solstice flower crowns, intricate bubble wands, and super cool felted mini artworks! Shoutout to MarySue French and Cabled Fiber & Yarn for running the wet felting station and to our flower sponsors Cherry Hill Florist, Tampopo Farms, and Safeway.

With music throughout the day, the meadow was buzzing with activity…bubbles and dancing and games. We have to applaud our intrepid musicians Jack Dwyer and Jack Tierney for showing up and giving awesome sets despite the forecast and to Mort Crim All Stars for picking the vibes back up after our brief but very real downpour of the day.

Lastly, the biggest thank you to our sponsors: 7 Cedars, Cabled Fiber & Yarn, and Olympic Peninsula Visitor Bureau and in-kind sponsors Angeles Millwork and Hartnagel Building Supply and KONP radio; to our volunteers; and to our vendors Pacific Pantry and Angeles Brewing Supply Company. You all helped to make this another special festival and we are so grateful for you all!

We hope you’ve enjoyed these fun pictures (by Cascadia Films- thanks, Matt!) and we will see you soon for the next festival….Celebration of Shadows on October 19th, 2024!
