Art in Bloom- An Annual Spring Tradition

April 30, 2025 by Christine Loewe Filed Under: Latest News

We are thrilled to celebrate another year of Art in Bloom with our community. We invite you to bathe in the joys of spring with us on Saturday May 10th from 11-5PM. This annual celebration of flowers has been held since 2004 in honor of former board member Mim Foley. Mim was involved with the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center for decades in various volunteer positions and served as president of the Friends of the PAFAC. She was instrumental in raising awareness of the center’s mission. As a docent, she lead tours for school children and wrote grants. Mim loved the art center, flowers, gardening and she especially loved sharing in community with people of all ages.

“My mother wanted to spend Mother’s Day weekend with a family activity that combined her two great loves: gardening and the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center,” remembers Irene Alltucker, Mim’s daughter. Gathering a group of master gardener friends and art appreciators, Art in Bloom became a reality.

After Mim’s untimely death in 2010, her husband Bud Foley created a legacy program for Mim and continued his support of Art in Bloom to honor her. Bud passed away in 2016, but Mim and Bud’s family have continued to generously support this program.

Every year we celebrate a life well lived through this special event. This year Art in Bloom will look a bit different with a hiatus of our annual tradition of flower installations in the gallery by Port Angeles Garden Club floral artists due to the once in a lifetime opportunity to bring renowned artist Jennifer Angus to the gallery for her exhibition Hidden World.

That said, you can still expect to bask in the beauty of flowers.

We will transform the courtyard into a flower packed pollinator garden. Come relax in our cozy space while enjoying complimentary coffee and tea, purchase flowers to make your own bouquet at our flower bar, or savor a handcrafted macron from Tiny Biscuits Sweets and Confections. Then head into the gallery for the awe inspiring exhibit Hidden World where you’ll enter a curious world of victorian oddities and be immersed in a tapestry of intricate patterns created by over 2000 insects adorning the walls. You will also find one of kind treasures for your mom in our gift store with brand new items from PNW artists.
