Field Notes Exhibition

Field Notes is a visual love letter to the birds of the Pacific Northwest—an exhibition where art, observation, and reverence for the natural world converge. Inspired by the legacy of John James Audubon and rooted deeply in the unique ecology of this region, the show brings together contemporary artists whose work responds to the presence of birds not only as subjects of beauty, but as symbols of change, migration, resilience, and interconnectedness.

Fall Afterschool Art Club Registration
Registration Opens: June 1st

Enroll in an interdisciplinary Afterschool Art Club at Port Angeles Fine Arts Center. Led by the Youth Programs Director, Mandy Miller, this 8-week club inspires young creatives to engage with art and nature through a creative lens. Participants explore a vast array of art mediums and engage with learning at a hands-on level.

Blooming Artists: The Creative Start Showcase & Celebration!
Pop-Up: Tuesday, June 2nd - Sunday, June 7th | Celebration: Tuesday, June 2nd from 3PM-6:30PM

We are thrilled to once again partner with the Port Angeles School District, WSU Extension, and the Washington State Arts Commission to bring youth-inspired programming to our community. Join us as we celebrate arts, science and interdisciplinary learning through a pop-up exhibition showcasing the work of more than 250 K-2nd grade students from Franklin, Jefferson, and Dry Creek Elementary. View their work on display in the Esther Webster Gallery, celebrate a year of arts-integrated learning at our Creative Start Celebration party, and embrace the joy of creativity!

Summertide Solstice Art Festival

Wine & Words Author Salon with Mary Lou Sanelli
Thursday, June 18th | 6PM-8PM | Member: $20* | General: $25* | *Includes 1 glass of wine per ticket

Join us for an enchanting evening of Wine & Words at Port Angeles Fine Arts Center featuring author Mary Lou Sanelli. Sanelli, the author of fourteen books spanning nonfiction, fiction, memoir, poetry, and children’s literature, will share insights from her newest work, In So Many Words—a title nominated for both the Pacific Northwest Book Award and the Washington State Book Award in 2025. In addition to her writing, Sanelli is known for her work as a columnist, choreographer, and master teacher of contemporary ballet-jazz. During the Wine & Words Author Salon, guests will enjoy wine, live music, and Sanelli’s insight from her latest book. The evening will conclude with a specially choreographed dance inspired by her final reading, performed by Salina Treider, owner of Studio360.

Craft in Public

The Northwest Regional Spinners Associations will be taking over the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center courtyard for Craft in Public on June 21st. All are welcome to come and see what fiber arts are all about. Bring your spinning, knitting, crochet, small weaving, or quilting projects to work on in a beautiful outdoor setting.

String & Shadow Presents Night At The Grand Opera: A Giant Puppet Show

Step into a world of spectacle, mischief, and imagination at the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center as String & Shadow presents Night at the Grand Opera, a dazzling giant puppet performance unlike anything else on the Olympic Peninsula. Performed outdoors on the stage in the magical setting of Webster’s Woods Sculpture Park, this one night only event invites audiences of all ages into a candlelit European opera house bursting with chaos, comedy, romance, and revolution. Through towering puppets, elaborate cardboard sets, paper-mache creations, original music, and theatrical artistry, String & Shadow brings an unforgettable world to life where love triangles, backstage drama, rebellious plots, art-loving flies, and mischievous vermin collide in spectacular fashion.

Kinship Opening Reception

Kinship invites viewers into the wonder of nature and time. Bringing together contemporary artists who work with living materials, ecological processes, and forms drawn from the natural world, this exhibition considers how nature itself becomes a collaborator in shaping artistic expression. Rather than fixed objects, the works here unfold through growth, decay, weather, and care—reminding us that living systems are always in motion.

Day of Play!

Join us at the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center during Day of Play, a city-wide annual summer event hosted by the Port Angeles Parks & Recreation Department to celebrate National Parks and Recreation Month! Participate in exciting art activities designed for all ages, take a walk through Webster's Woods Sculpture Park, and see the new exhibition, Kinship!

Bonsai Pop-Up: An Exhibit In The Courtyard

Dungeness Bonsai Society will be showcasing a collection of their Bonsai Trees at the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center in connection with the Kinship exhibition. Come learn about the art of bonsai, the history of the craft, and view trees that are being shaped and cared for that viewers for generations will be able to enjoy.

 

Ekphrastic Poetry Reading

Port Angeles Fine Arts Center and Olympic Peninsula Authors are proud to host an Ekphrastic Poetry Reading based on the artwork in Kinship: A Collaboration with Nature. Enjoy readings from poets who will bring new interpretations to the current exhibition with a synergy between visual and verbal art.

Art and nature intertwine in Webster's Woods, volunteer a helping hand as an individual, or with your own community-based group, to keep Webster's Woods accessible, beautiful, and maintained.
