Opening Reception: Friday Feb 7th at 5PM
We are so excited to bring you Water Connects Us All in partnership with the Marine Discovery Center, Pangeaseed Foundation, Artists at Sea, regional scientists, and an international selection of artists to reflect on the ways individuals can effect positive change on the ocean habitats that support both the Olympic Peninsula and global communities. Through a multi-faceted project that includes our two-month exhibit, community conversations, and workshops, we will delve into those bonds created by water, explore the intersection of art, science, and marine conservation, and celebrate the role that creativity plays in inspiring us toward meaningful action. We invite you to learn from artists who are combining their creative ingenuity with ocean science research to inspire a more sustainable future.

An immersive exhibition by Madison-based artist Jennifer Angus that transforms the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center into a living tapestry of nature, using preserved insect specimens to create intricate patterns that dance across the walls. Through her art, she reveal both the delicate beauty and the fragility of our ecosystem, offering a thoughtful reflection on our relations with the natural world.
Each carefully composed piece invites the viewer to explore the hidden complexity of the insect world, where forms of nature intersect with the art of pattern-making. As the room is filled with these meticulously crafted designs, we are reminded of the essential roles that even the smallest of creatures play in sustaining life on Earth.

Surf, Skate, and Snow, explores the dynamic intersection of sport, design, and creative placemaking in harmony with the natural landscape. This exhibit showcases the work of regional and national artists, past and present who have drawn inspiration from the connected movement and reverence for the land that unfolds from these activities. From the artistic legacy of Esther Webster, the founder of the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center, who was a trailblazer in the early ski culture of the region, to those current artists using innovative mixed media design and eco-friendly experimental techniques to develop functional and inspiring works of art, their collective body of work reflects a shared value for the exhilarating ways our bodies and minds can move in harmony with our environment.
