We’re taking it back to our Mid-Century roots, transforming our historic gallery and surrounding space into a 1950s indoor & outdoor lounge. Join us for an evening that includes:

Sip & Taste: Craft cocktails, botanical forest spritzes, and delicious local catered bites. Hors d’oeuvres included, drinks for purchase.
Bid & Support: A silent auction featuring original artworks and experience packages including three Esther Webster works.
Listen & Dance: Courtyard jazz, bossa nova, and smooth beats. Stay for the after-hours DJ vinyl lounge dance set in the gallery.
Experience: Art making at the make-your-own mod art stations, and forest lounge spaces nestled among the trees.

Art Encounters

Experience mod art stations and try block printing using Esther’s originals.

Step into the creative spirit of the mid-century era with hands-on mod art stations throughout The Mod Lounge. Inspired by the bold, playful style of the 1950s and the original artwork of Port Angeles Fine Arts Center founder Esther Webster, guests are invited to experiment with color, pattern, and printmaking. Try your hand at creating a one-of-a-kind piece while exploring Esther’s artistic legacy and the creative energy of her iconic property.

Live Music

Enjoy captivating music all event long pulling us back in time.

Start your evening at The Mod Lounge experiencing The Infinite Love Triangle, a jazz trio that will be on hand to provide swinging and bossa nova vibes. The Infinite Love Triangle plays almost exclusively Joel Ricci’s original jazz compositions written in prototypical “jazz standard” style. The group features local artists Sal Michael on drums and Kendall Melton on electric and stand up bass.

Then, as the event continues, get ready for DJ and Selector Joel Ricci as he curates distinctive all vinyl seven-inch selections of vintage and contemporary rare funk, raw soul, and deep jazz in real time for the discerning music listener. He delights in sharing the cream of his collection with curious and adventurous loungers, dancers, and everyone in between. As always, Ricci tunes into the prevailing vibe and picks perfectly complementary sounds based upon his axiom: “Vinyl is Truth at 45 Revolutions Per Minute.”

Inspired by the effortless energy of the 1950s lounge era, The Mod Lounge invites you to settle in, explore, and stay awhile. Sip cocktails, discover forest seating, wander through the gallery’s auction, and follow the music into late-night vinyl grooves. The best part? Every ticket helps fuel the future of art in our community. Step into The Mod Lounge and you’ll find yourself surrounded by the unmistakable style of the Mid-Century era, from the music and mood to the furniture and lighting that bring the space to life.

To help create that atmosphere, we’ve partnered with Rosie’s Retro Closet, a local Port Angeles vintage curator and refurbisher. As an event sponsor, Rosie’s Retro Closet is filling The Mod Lounge with a thoughtfully selected collection of mid-century pieces, giving guests the chance to settle into the era and experience the historic Webster property in a whole new way.

Throughout the evening of The Mod Lounge, you are invited to bid on a variety of items curated to inspire. From original artworks of local artists, to prints from prior exhibiting artists, to art experience packages, this auction has something that appeals to all. The Mod Lounge FAQs

Have questions about The Mod Lounge? You are in the right place. Explore helpful information to plan your visit and make the most of your time at the Fine Arts Center.

Our onsite lot accommodates about 30 cars, with additional street parking throughout the neighborhood. One accessible parking space is available next to the gallery, and drop-offs are welcome for those needing assistance. Please check in with the parking attendant on Jones Street for guidance.

Tickets will be for sale through the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center’s website prior to the event. We recommend purchasing in advance in case the event sells out.
