Marine Discovery Center: Listening Session
Saturday, Feb. 8th | 10-11:30AM and Thursday, Feb. 20th | 5:30-7PM
Location: Port Angeles Fine Arts Center, Esther Webster Gallery

Working artists can help craft an art integration strategy for the new Marine Discovery Center, a public-private partnership with NOAA Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary. Listening sessions will explore how art can best be integrated into the facilities, exhibits, and building with the intent of using art’s emotional power to help achieve the facility’s conservation education goals, inspiring humans to take action to protect and care for wild spaces. Practical consideration about how to fund, select, and care for art installations in an aquarium will also be discussed.

Free and open to the public; artists in particular are encouraged to attend. Listening sessions will last approximately 90 minutes.

Science Days: “The Art of Science”

Science Days is a free, virtual celebration of science and stewardship put together by the North Coast and Cascades Research Learning Center. Anyone curious about science in our region’s national parks is invited to join for three days of presentation and conversations from Feb. 11th – Feb. 13th. The Port Angeles Fine Arts Center will be hosting “The Art of Science” virtual session on Tuesday, February 11th at 3:00PM. The session will ask “How else can we understand- and connect with- the stories taking place in our parks? A diverse array of artists whose work deals with park science and stewardship will share their pieces and process.
