We have exciting news to share in the lead up to Giving Tuesday happening next Tuesday November 28th. This global of day of generosity calls on community members from around the world to unleash the power of radical generosity. GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Since then, it has grown into a year-round global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

In the spirit of giving, on Monday November 27th PAFAC staff and volunteers will give back to our community with a volunteer day at the Winter Ice Village. Join us at the rink for holiday fun and Wintertide Festival of Lights ticket giveaways from 3-9PM. Then on Tuesday November 28th we will join thousands of organizations from around the world in reaching out to ask for support.

OUR GOAL:  To raise $10,000 towards sustaining our free programs and our mission to inspire the artist in every person.

This year as we jump on board with this day of giving we have been buoyed by the support of our donors with early donation pledges. We hit the ground running with $2,300 in donations committed.

AND, we are incredibly excited to share that a generous donor has provided challenge funds. Once we have raised $5,000 towards our Giving Tuesday Campaign, they will provide us with an additional $1,750 to officially launch us over the halfway mark towards our end of the day goal of $10,000.

VIEW HOW WE ARE DOING IN MEETING OUR GOAL

Sustaining funds help us bring the profound impact of art into the lives of others.

Art adds beauty, challenges us, connects us to the range of human emotion, and provides so many avenues of expression. Everywhere we look, art and visual communications are part of our daily lives and integral to our understanding of the world.

We are SO grateful for those of you who, through your actions, demonstrate that you too value the transformative power and crucial connections made through art. Whether that is through your direct donations, your sponsorship, your participation at PAFAC events, or your willingness to volunteer your time with our programs, we appreciate YOU and we know that you get it!  Art changes lives and everyone should have the opportunity to experience the joy of creative expression.

As we enter into this week with immense gratitude for the incredible community surrounding us, we are also looking ahead to how we continue to keep the doors open so that every aspiring artist, from our youngest to oldest, can have access. We know this is only possible through sustained giving and that only together, we create greater access to free and affordable programs.

With an eye towards the next year of fulfilling our mission we are asking for your support. Will you help us meet our Giving Tuesday fundraising goals by making a donation today? All donations between now and next Tuesday will count towards our $10,000 goal and our halfway challenge fund.

Affordable and free programming is SO important for creating access to art, which is why the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center puts your donation to work by offering:

  • Free entrance to the Esther Webster Gallery and Webster’s Woods Sculpture Park, year round
  • Integrated Arts Education through partnership with Port Angeles Schools for free classroom visits and free field trips
  • Free events, festivals, and performances throughout the year for community members of all ages

Last year, we directly connected 6,636 people to the arts and supported more than 400 artists from around the region in exhibiting and selling their work through our gallery, gift store, Wintertide Makers Market, and Art Park. We additionally, welcomed nearly 32,000 visits from around the world to Webster’s Woods Sculpture Park.

Our programming in the last year has included quarterly community conversations, 4 gallery exhibitions, 2 outdoor exhibitions, 11 youth, family and adult workshops, two weeks of summer art camp serving 60 families, school-based education programming on our campus and within school classrooms for over 1000 local students, a month-long holiday makers market and winter lighted sculpture experience, and finally, three outdoor art festivals drawing nearly 2,000 people to our campus.

We are proud to offer these opportunities for people to explore their creativity, learn something new, and get inspired, but it is not possible without the incredible generosity of our supporters. Ultimately, Your donation today will keep our gallery entrance free for all, art education in our schools, and enable us to continue offering free events where our community can celebrate and experience art together.
