Celebrating Shadows and Pumpkins and Storytelling at Fall Festival!

What a night!

THANK YOU to everyone who joined us for the Celebration of Shadows Fall Festival- even in an atmospheric river. We are thrilled that people still came out to this event despite the rain. We had to make some last minute changes due to the weather, but we are so appreciative of your graciousness and ability to adapt with us.

Our photographer, Matt Sagen with Cascadia Films did an amazing job capturing the spirit of the night. Enjoy a few photos below!

The day started early with pumpkin carving and mini-crankie workshops. It was really fun to see people of all ages participating. Then, to kick off the festival we had Jennifer Lu’Becke with the Port Angeles branch of the North Olympic Library System tell spooky stories in the gallery. The gallery went dark to celebrate our shadow theme- highlighting the gorgeous spiders and snakes of the Sparks of Connection exhibition.

It’s not a PAFAC festival without an art station…attendees got to make their own dried leaf frames AND masks with the Port Angeles Community Players. The glow in the dark scavenger hunt had people roaming the woods, and the pumpkin walk displayed our community’s creativity!

Thanks to the Community Playhouse, we were able to move our main performances indoors. Without our neighbors, we would not have been able to host our artists. Our BIGGEST thank you to the Playhouse for opening their doors and stage to partner with us! Sue and Sil with The Crankie Factory gave three performances of their crankie storytelling, live music, and dancing.

Our heartfelt thanks to our sponsors: Olympic Peninsula Visitor Bureau, Clallam County LTAX Funds, City of Port Angeles, County Aire Natural Grocers, Olympic Lodge by Ayers; pumpkin donors Grocery Outlet, Sunny Farms: composters Sisterland Farms; and in-kind sponsors Angeles Millwork and Hartnagel Building Supply, KONP radio, and Safeway; to our hardy volunteers; to our “always down no matter the weather” vendors Pacific Pantry; and lastly, to all of the supporting businesses and organizations that donated for the pumpkin winner prizes. This would not happen without you all- thanks for making it possible!

That’s a wrap on the Celebration of Shadows! We hope you’ve enjoyed these fun pictures (by Cascadia Films- thanks, Matt!) and we will see you soon for the next festival….the Wintertide Festival of Light on Saturday, December 7th!
